I’ll be joining some of the world’s leading voices in digital ethics, law enforcement, and animal welfare at the SMACC Global Summit 2025 — a two-day online conference dedicated to ending animal cruelty online.

I’m deeply honored to be invited to deliver a talk titled “How to Use Social Media for Good,” followed by a panel discussion on how creators, platforms, and communities can reshape the internet into a safer, more compassionate place.

Why this topic matters to me

Over the years, I’ve seen both the best and worst of what social media can do. It can unite rescuers and inspire compassion — but it can also amplify cruelty, misinformation, and emotional manipulation. My journey as MeloCat — a creator who tells stories about animals, empathy, and truth — has taught me that the difference between the two often comes down to how we use our voices.

In this talk, I’ll explore how creators, brands, and everyday users can reclaim social media as a force for good — not through algorithms or virality, but through intentional communication, ethical storytelling, and transparent community building.

What I’ll be sharing on stage

Here’s a glimpse of what my session covers:

  • Redefining “influence” — shifting from vanity metrics to values-driven reach

  • Content with conscience — how to tell powerful stories without exploiting emotion or trauma

  • Building digital trust — using transparency, credibility, and dialogue to strengthen communities

  • Creating meaningful movements — transforming engagement into offline impact and collaboration

  • The MeloCat Framework — my personal approach to turning empathy and storytelling into sustainable advocacy

These are principles I’ve lived by — from hosting MeloCat’s Expert Chat podcast and global animal welfare panels, to moderating cross-industry discussions like Cathay’s Asia Miles 25th Anniversary event. Whether it’s about travel, lifestyle, or advocacy, my focus remains the same: to connect ideas, people, and purpose through honest storytelling.

What being MeloCat means in this context

As MeloCat, I bridge two worlds — digital creativity and real-world compassion. I understand the emotional pulse of online communities, and I’m passionate about helping others navigate it safely. My work has always been about transforming awareness into action — and this summit is a powerful platform to take that message further.

I believe social media can still be a place for truth, trust, and transformation — if we’re willing to use it with integrity.
